Summary/Description:  Project Aries was a key sub-project of the “Star Wars” program. While the public focus was on “Brilliant Pebbles” (kinetic interceptors) and lasers, Aries focused on electromagnetic disruption. Research indicates that the weapon’s true intent was to provide a defense against IAVs (Identified Aerial Vehicles) or IACs (Identified Alien Craft). Unlike kinetic missiles, which struggle to hit craft with “gravity-defying” maneuverability, an EMP field or electromagnetic pulse generator creates an area-of-effect that can neutralize the flight systems of a craft regardless of its speed or trajectory.
