The Aries Project, is a subproject of Pres. Reagan’s SDI (Strategic Defense Initiative), also known as Star Wars Program. It consists of building an electro-magnetic pulse generator (or Van de Graaf generator) as a weapon. Officially the weapon is designed as a protection against incoming missiles. In reality, it is supposed to be a weapon against “IAV’s” (identified aerial vehicles),or “IAC’s” (identified alien craft). M.W.
- Aries was not the only SDI subproject. The overall SDI program included research into many advanced technologies to detect, track, and destroy ballistic missiles. Other SDI subprojects included:
- Brilliant Pebbles: Small, orbiting missiles designed to collide with and destroy incoming warheads.
- Directed-Energy Weapon (DEW) programs: Research into high-tech weaponry like X-ray lasers and chemical lasers.
- Homing Overlay Experiment (HOE): Kinetic kill vehicles (KKVs) that used a large, umbrella-like structure to destroy missile warheads by collision.
